How can my child get a good grade in Mrs.Wall-Lopez's class?

Excellent question! Hard work, focus in classes, following all directions, turning in assignments on time, taking good notes in class, studying, following expectations, and doing their best are ways for your student to get a good grade in my class.

How can I help my child?

You can help your child in many ways: helping them study the content, working with them on vocabulary, and even helping them preview or research topics. One of the MOST important ways to help is keeping high standards of how they participate in class and their academic achievement. You can do this by checking skyward, their daily planners, their binders, and their work in class. Any support at home helps your student tremendously!

How can I schedule a conference?

I am always happy to schedule conferences if there are any questions or concerns. The best way to do this is to email me at stephaniewall@misdmail.org and we can work out a time and day to meet up!

Where can I view assignments and grades?

You can view both on skyward along with more information about your student. However, I do list your students assignments for the 6 weeks under the "Six Weeks" tab by which six weeks it is; for example, in 1st Six Weeks the assignments will be listed for that six weeks.

What happens if my student has a zero in the grade book?

In my class if the student has not turned in an assignment I may take up to 15 points the first day late, 30 points the second day late, and after is up to teacher discretion--- however exceptions can be made on individually based situations. Students may make up tests and assignments as designated by the teacher. Students need to make arrangements with the teacher to retake or correct assignments and tests. ALL assignments, make ups, and retakes MUST be completed before the end of each grading period in order to be put in the gradebook.

What is a current event?

A current event is an extra credit assignment a student may do to help add points to their grade. Their assignment requires the following

  •           An article- online or printed

  •           A one paragraph summary of the article

  •           One paragraph describing the science involved

  •           One paragraph reflecting ( explaining their thoughts of the article )

The students may do this on notebook paper, a poster, a powerpoint, publisher, or prezi

On the Home page of my website I have a variety of websites that students may also use to assist them in finding articles.
